How we build. Why we build this way.
The Model
Our goal has always been simple: get more people into pools without cutting corners on quality. That's a harder problem than it sounds. Most pool builders solve it by trimming materials, rushing timelines, or burying surprises in the contract. We took a different approach.
By offering three engineered pool sizes with a focused set of options, we were able to eliminate two of the biggest cost drivers in the industry including salespeople and designers. There's no commission being paid out of your budget. There's no design session that stretches across weeks and ultimately inflates the scope. What you see is what gets built.
Each of our three sizes has already been fully engineered. The structural drawings exist. The permitting process is understood. The build sequence has been dialed in through repetition. That predictability isn't just good for us — it's what allows us to commit to timelines that most builders won't touch, maintain tighter quality control on every phase, and deliver consistent results from one job to the next.
We're not offering fewer choices because we can't. We're offering fewer choices because it's the right way to build a better pool at a fair price.
The Materials
When you hire After Hours, you're hiring a team that has already spent significant time thinking about materials including which combinations hold up in the Arizona climate, which pairings photograph well, which finishes age gracefully versus which ones show wear. Our color packages are the result of that work, not a shortcut around it.
There's also a practical advantage: because we build the same curated packages consistently, we're able to purchase premium coping, tile, and pebble finishes in volume. That buying power translates directly into more material value per square foot than a traditional builder who's piecing together custom selections on a one-off basis. You get better product for the same money.
Our packages aren't permanent either. We plan to refresh our colorways at least once a year as materials evolve and new options become available. We're also building toward a limited-run designer series for homeowners who want something that goes beyond the standard palette. The model is designed to grow.
When you choose a color package from After Hours, you're trusting professionals who've already done the work to make sure the result is something you'll be proud of for years.
The Scope
We get asked about this regularly, and the honest answer isn't that we can't it's that we've made a deliberate choice not to. After Hours exists to be exceptional at one thing: building pools. Expanding into landscaping and hardscape would dilute that.
Beyond the focus question, there are real practical reasons this serves our customers better. Hardscape and landscaping work introduces additional trades, additional scheduling dependencies, and additional variables that are outside of our control. Each one of those is a potential delay. In a build model specifically designed around a defined timeline, those delays have real consequences not just for your schedule, but for the quality of every phase that follows.
A landscaping specialist will also bring more focused expertise, better supplier relationships, and more competitive pricing to that portion of your project than we could by doing it as a secondary scope. We'd rather you work with the best person for each job than have us try to be everything.
Our commitment is to hand you the keys to a finished pool that performs exactly as promised, on time, with zero surprises. Everything we do the model, the materials, the scope — is built around that promise.
